Just replaced the tires on our recently acquired 1999 9-5se. Got a set of
Dunlop SP SPORT A2's, mainly on the strength of owner comments on Tire Rack.
Got the original size 215/55-16, with an H-rating. So far...we have only a
few hundred miles...I'm very pleased with them. Ride is good, they're quiet
and handle well, at least at any kind of reasonable street speeds. Had a
1/2' of snow a week ago and they worked well there also. Paid $537 installed
and balanced locally, which includes free rotation and balance every 6000
miles.

I also looked at the discussion on the 9-5 bulletin board for some guidance
on tires, but found the long discussion more aggravating then helpful. As
mentioned above, I choose the H-rated version of the Dunlop SP Sport A2's,
even tho they do come in V-rated also. V-rated tires are simply not needed in
this country, unless you want them for bragging rites, or plan to drive like
an idiot on the public roads, or plan some serious track competition on
street tires. As far as that goes, the same could be said for H-rated tires.
Had S or T-rated versions been available I would have chosen them. The car
we traded in on this 9-5 was a 1993 9000CDE Turbo, a car much faster and more
powerful then the 9-5. It was shod with 195/65-15 S-Rated BFG Touring TA's
(a great tire, by the way) and they worked great on it, always felt safe and
in control with those tires.
