I have a 1998 9-3 SE with 86k. It has only had two problems, apparently =
both common. The clutch on the AC compressor ran when cold and would =
fail when it warmed up. A replacement cost 120UKP. There is also a fault =
with the airbag wiring in the seat which triggers the warning light on =
the dash. I've had it reset, but it soon comes back on. The cure is a =
new seat loom, which I shall have done next service, as the ding-dong on =
start annoys me. Saab UK admit the fault is common, but as the mileage =
is over warranty are happy to let me do their R&D for them.

Good things - Comfortable, solid, quiet, the integration of stereo, =
alarm and dash, huge boot.

Bad things - Controls and fittings are flimsy compared to a 9000, poor =
rear legroom, a bit bland.

I think it's a very competent modern car, but I still miss my 9000.

P.S. The wiring appears to all be in place for the heated seats. Does =
anyone know if it is just a matter of fitting the switches and seat =
pads?
