Regarding C900s sometimes having a choppy idle, as low as
400RPM, even stalling until the engine's warmed up:

we've got an 86 900 Turbo 16V...179000mi... bought used last
spring in Maine. That summer we had the idling probem described
above, and found that there was a vacuum hose that fell of its
mount on top of the engine. Replacing this solved the stall-out
problem when a cold start, but hose kept falling off. Using a
small scre-to-tighten hose clamp fixed the problem permanently!
a 50 cent fix, isn't it great? Hope this helps!
