Power-Heated Mirrors

It appears that the heater in my drivers side mirror on my 91 900t is
no longer working .The power mirror works just not the heater. A dealer
told me that you have to buy a new mirror...yeah right..Anyway I had a
quick look and there is a plate on the inside of the door that has a
plastic rivet holding it in place ,but I am afraid to force it because
it looks like I'll not get it back on . I figured I need to remove this
in order to get the mirror off..
I also spoke to a glass replacement place and they thought that if it is
the type that has the elctric heaters glued on that it has come off
,other than that it is a bad wire..
So how do I test for this and what wire is it (color) and how do I get
the mirrow off??

Thanks..
