The first thing I would check is the electrical connection to the oil
pressure sensor.

Other than that, here's a relevant story. We have had SAABs in the family
for about 13 years now, and until recently, never had a problem with the oil
pressure sensor or it's wiring. Then a month or so ago our '90 9000S (in
the USA) started leaking oil (making a big nasty mess wherever it would
park), and lighting up the oil pressure warning light for no good reason.
Turns out the sensor just went bad. Then I found out that within the last
couple of months my father's '90 9000i (in Europe) started doing the bogus
oil pressure light thing as well. In both cases, a new sensor fixed the
problem.

The new sensor costs $3.79, and should take an experienced technician less
than 15 minutes to install.

I went ahead and bought four new ones, and will be making sure to install
one in each one of my SAABs at their next oil change. When I first looked
at the little box that the new sensor came in, things suddenly started to
make more sense: It said 'Made in England' !

The sensor can be seen here:

It can be ordered here, using part number 9112459:

It is used in the following SAABs:

900: '87-'98
9-3: '99-'00
