Cruise Control & Oil & Tires & Stereo

Regarding my wife's '84 900 Turbo... No, I don't have a Bentley manual
and no, I can't afford one right now...

1) Is it possible to disassemble the cruise-control switch at the end of
the turn-signal arm? The cruise hadn't worked for some time but, a couple
of days ago, I was fiddling with it as I was driving and the cruise came
on - I was shocked as I think it was the first time it came on in a few
years - I haven't been able to get it work since - I now believe the
switch itself is the culprit - any ideas?

2) Being poor folks, we can't afford to keep up with the oil changes like
we should - I plan to do an oil change on it soon (I hope)... Is it safe
to use oil additives (i.e. Redline, etc.) to clean out the lubricating
system some?? My main concern is the oil-feed line for the turbo - I'm
concerned some minor sludging may have already occurred and I'd like to
clean it out... Synthetic oils have a cleaning property to them but, I'm
not sure this engine is 'leakproof' enough to risk spending all that
money on synthetic oil...

3) The right-front tire has been wearing-down prematurely... Shortly
before my parents gave us this car (it used to be my mom's car), they
bought new tires - I'm not real impressed with these tires - they were
purchased at a local Les Schwab dealership and they are a 'rain' tire
that doesn't have much tread to begin with and are of a design that has a
'raised' or 'indented' area in the middle of the tread-area for water to
pass-through... I don't know what possessed them to get a rain tire when
we get more snow than rain but, oh well... My folks claim they have never
had any trouble with premature tire wear on the right-front before and,
they kept real good care of the car including making sure the
wheel-alignment was set correctly - I really don't think wheel-alignment
is much of an issue here especially since the left-front tire is fine and
the wear on the right-front is fairly uniform across the entire surface
of the tire... Is it just a bad tire?? I'm a little baffled by this...

4) I don't yet know what model of Clarion stereo/equalizer is installed
in this car but, it needs help... A few years back, my dad had to pull
the stereo out to work on the heater temperature control and somehow
managed to bugger-up the connections on the back when he slid it back in
(it's a pull-out type)... I haven't pulled the unit back out to survey
the damage yet for fear of not being able to get it to make good contact
again... Is there any way to repair the power/speaker/equalizer
connectors for these Clarion pull-out stereos??... Can anyone scan the
wiring diagram for the stereo system for me?..

5) Where can I find a decent replacement for the front speakers - having
those no39sdcx6spamx782#&!-blasted custom speaker grills with integrated defroster vents
makes it difficult to squeeze just any ol' speaker in the holes... The
right-front speaker is blown-out and makes funny clicking noises (the
wife likes to play her music LOUD - especially when the windows are
down)... We're also having a problem with both the front and rear
speakers cutting-out which I believe is related to the stereo connector
issue mentioned in question (4)... I need to find new speakers - I'm not
looking for 'top-of-the-line', just something that sounds fairly decent
and can be played LOUD...

Well, that's all for now - Thanks!!

Terry Warren
