Hi Dave,
If your ' 79 Model 99 is anything like my old '74 Model 99 (and I think it
is), your 'lack' of clutch pedal is the result of bad seals in your master
and slave hydraulic clutch cylinders. These aren't difficult to rebuild
(assuming you can find the rebuild kits), and the rebuild will last approx
30K miles. Or you can find someone to rebuild these cylinders for you. This
might involves resleeving the cylinders with brass (an elegant fix, but one
that I never tried). Or you can buy new cylinders, and install them
yourself. Or you can say 'the hell with it,' and take it to a shop. My
favorite choice is to rebuild the cylinders myself, using Scotchbrite to hone
the bores, and then refill the system with fresh brake fluid and carefully
bleed the system. I did this so many times on my 99 that I think I can do
it blindfolded.
Happy SAAB'ing,
Stan the SAAB man..

Stan
