Computer Warnings

Hi, I have a 95 Saab 900S (convertible) and in the past
few weeks I've noticed some strange behavior:  while
driving the warning light (the '!' sign) on the console will flash
and onboard computer display panel will say 'Check Engine'.  

On one other occasion the car stalled just after starting 
and putting it into 'Drive' (its an automatic).  And the
 most bizarre experience was on the freeway - I was doing 75 or so
and for a brief instant, ALL the instruments on the panel
lit up, the speedometer spun down to 0.  The car continued
to drive normally and after instantaneously flashing, the
panel and the instruments went back to normal.  (I was
too alarmed to remember what the onboard computer
display said during this incident).

Any pointers as to how to fix this?  Would prefer
if you reply via email in addition to posting - I try, but don't
always read all of the digests.
