Seems like I have not only the same car (1986 900 8v), but exactly the 
same problem: It starts just fine in the morning, one crank and off you 
go, but after standing several hours, it needs a whole lot longer to 
start. Or, in my case, will sometimes refuse to start at all. You can 
smell there´s enough fuel, but nothing happens. My suggestion is this: 
The fuel injectors are bad, and as they´re working mechanically (certain 
pressure opens the valves), they leak. So the car dies of too much fuel 
just the moment you start it. A possible solution: Disconnect the fuel 
pump relais while starting, this will 'clean' the cylinders of too much 
fuel. Or, if it´s only some sort of slight problem, disconnecting the 
extra fuel injector cable (black cable, blue connector,sits on top of 
the air intake) might help. Well, new fuel injectors are the other 
solution... ;-)
Can anyone confirm this suggestion?
