Timing Belt Advanced and Replacement Parts

Need your advise. I have a 95' 900SE that I purchased from a dealership in
WI two years ago. My timing belt advanced and has caused major damage to the
engine. The dealership has just informed me that Saab has discontinued
selling replacement parts for the lower unit as of 1999 and that my only
option will probably be to replace my engine with their new V-6 one at a cost
of about $7500. I currently have an outstanding loan on this vehicle and
can't even imagine justifying putting another $7500 into it at this point.

This is my first Saab and I am shocked at the fact that Saab would
discontinue replacement parts on a car only after 5 years. This must be
unheard of in the automobile industry! I understand, though, that Saab has
had extensive problems with this GM/Opal engine. Does Saab or the dealership
have a responsibility to notify car owners of their decisions to discontinue
replacement parts so soon? Where does this leave their customers?

Please help me as I am at a loss as to what to do and can't believe my first
experience with a Saab is turning out to be an absolute disaster. Do you
have any contacts at Saab who could offer any solutions to this problem or
provide me with a major discount on a replacement engine?

I appreciate any assistance you can give me in this matter.
Thanks,
Michelle H.
