Andy--I have made the reverse trip several times, from northern Ca to
Idaho. Would suggest you swap out to your Michelins. If there is any
weather at all over Donner, you will have to chain up. May as well have a
quieter ride and better handling for the majority of your trip. BTW, watch
out for both Idaho and Nevada hwy patrol and their instant-on radar. It
can clock you head on, plus they like to hide on the back side of on ramps
where you don't see them until after they have clocked you. I speak from
experience, however, the fines in Idaho and Nevada are much more reasonable
