The check valves are located in the washer fluid lines and are located close
to the pumps. I just went through this job myself on my wife's 9000 CSE ('93
w/125,000 miles, 75,000 miles to go!) There are 2 pumps, one for the front
one for the back. The pump for the front goes to check valve/T. One side of
the T has a small orifice, that is for the headlights, the other side for the
windshield, (I believe you would call it a 'wind screen'). I found the
membrane inside the check-valve/T had failed. Instead of giving my money to
the local dealer, I removed the orifice and glued it into a T that I
purchased at a local hardware store, total cost....55 cents. This T has
worked for 6 weeks so far, I have never figured why Saab installs a
check-valve when an ordinary T will sufice. Good luck!
