Idle

I think it must have been discussed more than once here, but I still need
some advice: The engine on my 86 900 (non-turbo, 8V) has some problems
keeping the idle rpm. The rpm go up and down between normal and -400 (the
battery light starts to flicker there). This effects driving at slow speed
as well. The oil cap is tight, so this is possibly not the problem. A
friend of mine (driving an `88 turbo) has the same problem, and we both
dunno what it might be. Ignition? Air intake? Is there some kind of
air-measurement-meter or something which could be stuck? The engine doesn´t
get very warm as well. Thanks for any advice,
Bluestar
