If this truly is your tachometer that is 'falling back', then I think your
problem is spark related. Your Tach is electronic. It's basically a
voltmeter that's 'counting' the number of sparks/minute. You say it's a
manual transmission--then it's virtually impossible to have the tach fall,
unless you've let up on the loud pedal, and depress the clutch, or if you
twist the key to OFF. If this is the case, then my suspicion is with the
ignition (spark). With an automatic, there's slip, so it's possible for the
tach to fall during the period of lack of power. Maybe you meant, '...it
reaches 5K, then pauses there...'?
Is there a rev limiter in the newer Saabs? Maybe this is engaging
prematurely?
