Key Codes

Imagine that you lost all your keys and neither SAABUSA nor your dealer can
find the key code for your Classic 900 in their computers.

You should be able to disassemble the hatch/trunk handle and lock, and read
the key code which is stamped on the outside of the lock cylinder unit.
It's really a simple mechanism, and quite easy to get to.

A dealer should then be able to cut/order the correct key with this code.
Depending on the cost, you may want to order just one finished key, and
several 'blanks', which can then be cut at many hardware stores and similar
places. Some places sell compatible blanks, but these are far less robust
than SAAB originals. The last thing you want is a spare key breaking in
the partially-gummed-up floor-mounted C900 ignition switch when it's 40
below and snowing.

The key code may possibly be obtained this way on 9k 5-door models through
'92, and maybe even later cars, but I don't have personal experience there.
