Timing Chain Replacment Cost

I have an '88 SPG that runs great, but has a small oil leak somewhere in
the engine near the firewall. Saab mech I use thinks it may be leaking
from the timing chain cover/gasket. I was thinking that if I were to have
this leak fixed it would make sense to replace the timing chain and
tensioner at the same time.

His cost to do just the timing chain is around $600.00. He would pull the
engine to do it since it is such a a tight squeeze.

My questions are these: Is this a reasonable price for this? If not, then
how much should I pay?

Is this a good way of doing the timing chain replacement?

Thanks

Craig
