If you are going to do a lot of mechanical work, a pragmatic approach is to
do it in logical pieces, and drive if between visits. The reasons are
obvious: If it doesnt work right or feel right, you know where to look.

Do the mechanicals first, body last.

I suggest a stockpile of replacement parts sitting on your shelf that will
take care of the most common failings on Saabs of your vintage: heater
valve, instrument cluster (odometer), fuel float, cabin fan and the speed
resistors, of course all the funkey interior and exterior lightbulbs,

I'd also suggest replacement body parts: plastic front light bezels, tail
light assemblies, interior switches, mouldings? - the interior plastic
switches, etc are important because, from my experience, the plastic
fatigues with age, and will crumble when you touch it. It might be
difficult to find a light switch for a 30 yr old saab.....

Good luck in your restoration...it might have been more cost effective to
buy two cars and immediately put the other in a garage...... now as soon as
I finish my time machine....
