Saab has improved its rust protection over the years. On later
models, the lower part of doors are galvanized and polyester coated,
simlilar bottom coating is used, but where salt is used in winter
time rust is still likely to appear.

Spots to look for rust are:
-under the rubber molds at the bottom of door; despite of the
galvanization in later models due to mechanical wear caused by a
poor mold design
-lower part of door, caused by water caught between door inner and
outer panel edges
-inside the rear wheel wells, no plastic covers as in front
-rear shock upper mounting points
-under carpets, due to leaks from doors, windows, missing plugs etc.

If you happen to find any, removing an repainting or treating with
a paint over rust product ood results is required. I have used
POR15 under the rubber molds with success. If previously applied,
also a layer underbody coating will be necessary.
