My thanks to Steven Goldberger, Herb Hirsch, and Jim Bostrom for their
suggestions regarding my 93 9000 cse steering problems. I left a copy
of your suggestions for the mechanic to read. It turned out to be
A-frame bushings. They are shot and the cost to replace them, tie rod
ends boots(?) and an alignment is $1100. Now, this car has gone through
a major service, a replacement of both front wheel bearings, replacement
of engine mounts, and several oil changes. With all that air time, I
wonder why those crack Saab mechanics didn't notice the A-frame
bushings. The service rep. this am even told me that the bushings rarely
go out, but by this pm, it was the age of the car, I could expect this,
maybe it was time to get rid of it, and so on. I'll get a second
opinion before I commit to repairs. I don't understand why the tires
haven't shown any unusual wear on them. Again, thanks for your
suggestions.
