It is true that the APC maket your engine perform differently according to
fuel octane rating.

It does this by limiting MAX turbo boost pressure to the point when knock
begins. The higher the octane, the higher your maximum boost pressure will
be.

So, there will be a noticeable difference between max
boost/horsepower/acceleration on a tank of 87, and a tank of 93.

If you don't care about maximum boost that much, then regular grade gas
should suffice. Generally, I like to have the highest boost levels
available, and don't mind spending the extra 2 bucks a week on premium grade
gas to accomplish this.
