Two Lighting Modifications

Two Lighting mods
Just wanted to share with TSN readers,
I just completed two different lighting modifications to my 95 AERO
which should also have application on other 9000's with rear fog lights
and on 9000CSE's with the small 5w marker lights located between the
high and low beam headlight reflectors.
1. First the rear fog light modification - I purchased an 'American Auto
Strobe Light 29-0700' at Pep Boys and located it in the back up light
reflector. Just unsnap the backup light bulb/socket, shove in the
strobe and reinstall the backup light bulb/socket. Then run the strobe
wiring behind the hatchback inside cover, over to the fog light bulb
connector. Turning on the rear fog light will now also cause the strobe
to flash in the back up light reflector housing. For cars approaching
from behind, in fog and heavy rain this really imparts an outstanding
effect (had occasion to try it in a really heavy downpour on a back
country road last night). I also find it useful to cause discomposure
for 'tailgaters', causes them back off posthaste. The installation
requires no modification to the car. There is room to feed the wires
for the strobe bulb in the slots of the backup light bulb holder and I
connected the strobe wiring by just 'wedging' the wires into the
bayonet lugs of the fog light bulb connector. The small 'transformer'
that connects to the strobe fits nicely in the area beside the backup
light reflector.
2. The second lighting modification is to the miniature 5w headlight
marker lights that are located between the high and low beam bulbs.
Just substitute 'amber' bulbs for the clear ones that come on the
vehicle, gives a very nice effect and balances the amber parking
lights. It looks especially nice when only the parking lights are on.
These modifications satiate that occasional urge to 'do something' to
your car when you don't have the $$$ to buy it more costly toys.
Take care
Harry
