The printing and mailing of the registration packets has been
delayed. I wanted to get a few more of the specifics out there so
people can start planning.

You should have the official forms in hand around the beginning of March.

WHEN: July 5-9, 2000
WHERE: Lime Rock Park, Connecticut (July 5 & 6), Hudson Valley
Resort, Kerhonkson, NY (July 7-9)

The schedule of events will follow closely the schedule of the past
three conventions.

Lime Rock Park:

July 5: Saab/Skip Barber driving school $300 per participant. Learn
how to better control your car while driving new Saab 9-3s. Two
levels, one for those with no prior driving school (including Saab
Convention schools) or racing experience, and an advanced level for
those with such experience (proof required). Typical 'modules'
include autocross, heel & toe, threshold braking.

July 6: Lapping Sessions. Under the watchful eye of the Skip Barber
instructors, take your own Saab out on one of the most famous road
courses in the USA. Take your Saab through Big Bend, the Esses, up
the hill on the No Name Straight, down the back straight, into the
Diving Turn and back onto the Main Straight. $125 per person.

Autocross: The annual Saab autocross at the convention. Test your
mettle in this low-speed challenge against other, similarly equipped
Saabs. $25 per person.

(note: tech inspection required for lapping & autocross. Details to follow.)

Hudson Valley Resort:

July 7:

The festivities kick off in the afternoon with tech sessions. The
evening brings the annual welcoming reception at poolside. Returning
this year will be the after dinner auction.

There is an optional morning activity - an exclusive tour and airshow
at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome in Rhinebeck, NY $5 per person.
Caravan will leave Hudson Valley early Friday morning for the 45
minute drive. This is a fun, interesting activity, suitable for the
entire family. See WWI (that's right WW ONE) era planes fly from this
combination museum and airstrip. Well worth the trip!

July 8:

A full breakfast opens the day, a day traditionally filled with
Saab-related activities. Polish up the Saab for the morning Concours
d'Saab. The group photo is next, followed by lunch. Afternoon brings
more tech sessions, or you can run the fun rally through the scenic
and twisty roads in the area.

The annual awards banquet closes the day, with presentations to award
winners, and a special keynote with some of Saab's greatest rally
drivers.

July 9:

Once again, a full breakfast prepares you for the trip home. John
Moss' auction, and focus groups will meet.

The cost of this year's convention will be $125 per person. This
includes 5 meals (Dinner Friday, 3 meals Saturday & breakfast
Sunday), and a welcoming goodie pack.

(children's registration information will be included in the
registration package)

The Hudson Valley Resort has offered us a special rate of $125 per
ROOM per night. Space is limited at the Hudson Valley, but other
nearby options are available. Contact Hudson Valley at
1.888.948.3766, and specify code 1411 for the Saab room block.

I hope this whets your appetite.

starting next week.
