New England Saab Event

Dear New England Saaber,

Please excuse this message if it is redundant or undesired. If you're
interested in Saabs, and want to get in on a once-in-a-lifetime event, then
read on.....

Now, having disposed with the formalities, the simple fact is that our
August 10-12th New England Saab Owners Convention is close at hand. And
despite sending out announcements, brochures, and reminders, there are still
a fair number of you out there who haven't responded. Each person receiving
this email should have received a brochure in the mail by now (unless you've
contacted us in the last few days). If you haven't received a brochure, we
either have your wrong mailing address (we can fix that), or there's a black
hole at your Post Office (we can't help you there).

We realize that this is a busy summer for nearly everyone, but what better
way to add some genuine relaxation and enjoyment to it, than by catching up
with some old Saab friends and making a few new ones. Oh, and the cars will
be there too! We're hoping to have a good representation of the whole
spectrum of Saab years and models as a celebration of Saab's 45 year history
in New England. And to bring that spirit home, we're supremely happy (almost
giddy!) that Ralph Millet will be on hand to speak at our banquet Saturday
night, and review some of Saab's early years in New England (including home
videos of the very first 93Bs being unloaded in New York Harbor back in
1956!) For those of you who don't know, Ralph is the man responsible for
bringing Saab automobiles to New England 45 years ago, and we're all
incredibly thankful for this.

We're also very pleased to have John Moss with us for the weekend, helping
with the Concours and speaking Saturday night as well. John has been with
Saab for...well, not as long as Ralph has...but a good long time. He's known
by many as the Saab 'Technical Guru'. He knows each Saab model inside and
out. You could say he knows these Swedish models intimately(!) And he's a
New Englander to boot!

If you're not already aware of our schedule, we'll start the festivities
Friday night with a Seafood Buffet at the White Mountain Hotel in North
Conway. Then Saturday morning we'll hold a Concours at the Fields of
Attitish, followed by a TSD rally to Dalton, NH where we'll get rally
instruction from the pros at Team O'Neil, and we can each have a go on their
dirt track. Saturday night will be our Banquet, and Sunday morning we'll
have a Golf Scramble. All in all, a fun-filled weekend for the whole family.
If you need to get some more info, there are links on our web-site,
www.nesaab.org, and there are hotels, motels, and campgrounds nearby for
anyone interested.

Clearly, this will be a weekend to remember. But time is running out. In
fact, we need to give the hotel a final headcount for our Friday night
buffet and Saturday night Banquet by Wednesday August 1st(!), and if you're
not on the list, we're very sorry, but we'll have to bar the doors.

Additionally, our room block at the White Mountain Hotel runs out that day
as well, and there won't be any rooms left by that point.

SO..... IF you want to join us for this memorable weekend, and IF you plan
on coming to dinner or staying at the Hotel, then you had better let us know
by responding to this email within the next 36 hours, and by filling out and
returning your registration form. If you don't have or didn't receive a
registration packet, send me your address, and I'll speed one off to you, or
I can fax it as well.

IF you want to reserve a room at the Hotel, you may still have a chance if
you call them immediately, but even our block was filling up last we
checked.

If you've read this far, then you're obviously interested! Why not decide to
join us?! Otherwise you'll be hearing about it later and wishing you'd gone!

Looking forward to hearing from you,
(on behalf of the officers of NESA)

p.s. IF you have decided NOT to come because of one or more factors that we,
as a club, could improve in the future, please let us know. This is a
volunteer effort on the part of the organizers, and it's a hell of a task to
take on given that we all have lives too. But we want to see this Club
survive and thrive. We want to see the Spirit of Saab alive and well in New
England. So be a part of the solution and help us by sending in those
suggestions for the future. Thanks!
