The hooter valve (Turbo Bypass Valve) on you '89 9000 Turbo should be easy
enough to access if it is in the same spot as on my '91 9000T. It is just
above the turbo with two large hoses (about 1' diameter) coming out of it at
right angles, and also a smaller vacuum hose. If you still can't find it,
you can trace it back from where one of the large black hoses connects to the
metal air intake pipe (the one that goes between the Mass Airflow Sensor and
air filter area and the throttle body). Make sure that you observe the way
the valvle is installed because one of the large openings is supposed to be
an inlet and the other is the outlet, but they are not marked on the valve.
I hope this helps.
