Here's a way to determine if the howling is due to the known windshield
problem. When the noise starts, crack open the sunroof (or window). If the
howling stops, it's your windshield seal. The problem is due to negative
pressure building up inside the car and air leaking out through the bad
seal. Relieving the pressure stops the noise. I also found that pressing
the windshield would stop the howling or change the pitch.

I had this fixed twice. Once by the dealer on the original windshield, and
again when it cracked (not due to the repair) and was replaced by a glass
shop.

Regards,
Leon
