> First, Is there anyone using their alarm system in their 9000?

I have a '96 model and yes I use the alarm. I have it set up as received
from the previous owner, but I know from the Townsend website that there
are several options that can be set.
I can tell you the following facts:
#0 - when I use the remote to open/lock the car, the indicators flash but
there is no whoop-whoop noise (shame - I like that!)
#1 - it NEVER sounds the siren accidentally (in fact it has never sounded
the siren afaik!)
#2 - it does disable the ignition so the car can't be started if the delay
between opening the door and getting the key in the ignition is too long
(I'd like to extend this delay period!)
#3 - the 4 indicators often flash (e.g. because of #2)
#4 - the speaker-mounted led flashes at various rates and patterns that are
meaningless to me.
My conclusion - it keeps the insurance man happy and it's not too
troublesome.

I think this is probably the little fan(?) that sucks air through the
inside air temp sensor. Mine's a bit noisy but only audible when I have
just parked the car in the garage and everything else is completely silent.
It seems to continue a while after I turn off the ignition and it always
makes me worry that maybe it won't turn off and will flatten the battery.
I squirted silicone lubricant into the little grill and I think I convinced
myself that it got quieter.

Good luck
