>... the steps, in general, of how to R&R it?

Remove right front wheel.
Remove fender trim strip and plastic inner fender panel(s). Several nuts
along the inside fender edge, and several other screws in the inner fender
area.
Loosen 4 small bolts on the face of the water pump pulley.
Remove serpentine belt and tensioner. (someone else should provide details,
but it shouldn't be too unintuitive...)
Remove water pump pulley.
Loosen/remove bolts securing the coolant return pipe, and pull end of pipe
free from water pump.
Remove water pump.

Re-assembly is the reverse of removal. Make sure you carefully scrape off
remnants of the old pump-to-block gasket from the block before bulting up
the new pump with new gasket. Use new return-pipe o-ring.

>Any special/unique tools that I would need?

None, except something to keep the serp. belt tensioner compressed ?

>Approximate amount of time to do the job?

For first-timer, reserve at least 2 hours. 1 hour out, and 1 hour back in.

>Place to purchase a water pump at a reasonable cost?

I strongly believe in staying away from aftermarket water pumps. The
original pump has a cast impeller, rather than the common aftermarkets that
use a stamped-sheet-metal impeller.

With Camelback's advertised wholesale discount (800-876-5199), an original
SAAB water pump kit (includes pump, gasket and o-ring) for a 2-liter 9000 is
available for $100 plus $5 for 3-day freight. For a C900, it's $61.25. I
haven't had to buy a 2.3-liter 9000 pump yet, but expect that one to run
about $120.

Best regards,
