It depends on what you're looking for in a Saab. The main choices are Old
Generation (OG) 900 (1993-), NG 900 (94-98), 9-3, or 9-5.

For a commuter car, my preference would be either an OG 900 in the 91-93 year
groups, or a 9-3 of 2000 or newer. The 9-3 is essentially an 'improved NG
900.' In the OG 900, do not get an automatic (3-speed) transmission with the
non-turbo engine. In fact, stay away from the auto. A turbo with 5-speed is
preferred. If you need an auto tranny, get the 9-3 with the MUCH improved
4-speed auto.

Unless you need a bunch of power, the 2.0t in the 9-3 is more than adequate.
Buy based on what you can find in your price range.
