When I first got my (used) '91 900T it mis-behaved similarly. New 'inner
drivers' for the front axles helped both the bucking and vibration a lot.
Motor mounts (especially the front one) helped. The modification described
at <http://216.78.172.244/engine_folder/motor_mount_mod_9000.htm>
helped.

New front wheel bearings _almost_ made the problem go away. I think the
remaining play is in the transmission, and not economical to chase.

The classic 900 has real CV joints only on the outside ends of each
driveshaft. On each inside end is a joint with three roller bearings spaced
around it, which fit into three channels inside the 'tulip' that sticks out
of the transmission. Finding the bad inner driver was tricky - both my
dealer and I had checked them many times and they felt tight, but I finally
happened to grab the driveshaft when it was rotated to the exact critical
position and the inner end would move about 1/8 inch up and down! Rotate
the wheel just a few degrees either way and it felt perfectly tight.

Hope some of this helps!

Loren
