No Start & Transmission Fluid

The vehicle is a 1991 9000 Turbo (83K miles, automatic), and two problems
are occurring:  (1) when the key is turned in the ignition, there is a
click from under the hood, but the starter doesn't turn over.  If I wait a
few minutes, and keep trying, it will eventually turn over and start.  This
problem usually (though not exclusively) occurs when the car is hot - both
from driving and the weather; it does not happen all the time.  (it refuses
to have this problem in the presence of my mechanic, for example) My former
1987 9000T had the same occational problem, though I never learned the
cause.  Any other 9000 owners have this experience?  (2) A few days ago,
transmission fluid started leaking out, apparently from the vicinity of the
radiator, at a steady drip when the car was running (no leak with car off).
There was a lot of fluid, but I could not find where it was coming from.
Before I could bring the car to my mechanic, the leak mysteriously stopped
- after dumping out a full quart of fluid.  I checked the hoses, and they
all seem competent and secure.  I replaced the lost fluid, and it has not
leaked again. Any ideas what caused this - and should I expect it to
release fluid again without warning?
