On my 92 9000T from the time the car was new the clutch would moan as it
engaged in the lower gears and it was an intermittent problem that the dealer
could never reproduce. It continues to this day over 100,000 miles later but
I figured out what it was a few years ago and no longer give it any thought.
The problem only occurred on days when there was moisture condensed on my
windows and only when the car was cold, suggesting to me that there was
moisture on the clutch mechanism of which a small amount found its way onto
the friction surface or flywheel when they were apart and then caused the
noise when re-engaged. Performance was never affected and as soon as
everything warmed up the noise went away. Yours could be similar.
