Engine Harness Rot

Thought I would introduce myself, I have been lurking and listening for a
while, having decided that my next car was going to be a mid-80's 900.

I found a quite nice one in CT on the Saabnet classifieds and purchased it
last weekend. 85 900 Turbo w/200K, dealer maintained with most of the
'usual suspects' already replaced - transmission, steering rack, turbo,
calipers, headliner and much more all replaced in the last 3 years. Looks
pretty nice, drives very well. I took it in to the shop today for a going
over, they found a few things that need doing, the worst of which is a bit
of engine harness rot and a new crankshaft pulley - Saab must share
suppliers with Volvo, as I had these same problems on a similar vintage
240! Today they are doing rear suspension bushings and a front wheel bearing.

In addition to the Saab I have a 92 Peugeot 505 SW8, a 79 Peugeot 504D, and
a 74 Triumph Spitfire. Have in the past had 5 various Volvos and a couple
VW Jettas. I am no stranger to either working on my cars myself or shall we
say 'unique' engineering! I usually do most of my own work, built a nice
heated garage last year to do it in. I picked up a Haynes manual already,
and the Bentley manual is on its way from Amazon.com.

I am sure I will have plenty of questions for the group in the next few
weeks as I go through the car - I have learned much already!

Cheers,
Kevin Rhodes
