I have had a leak on the radiator top hose as well as radiator
itself. The leak on the hose was close to the block and I noticed
it only right after shutting off the engine (due to the pressure
that the heat builds up after water pump stops pumping). The
radiator developed a big leak suddenly, which I fortunately noticed
in time. I was using Barr's Leak at the time and I think it blocked
the hole unti it grew too large to block. Our holiday was ruined but
at least didn't overheat the engine. I'd inspect the components
first visually and pressure test the system.
