Saabs in Italy

I'm so upset, frustrated and jelous about all the facilities you have in
the US to collect old cars. I tell you about a monster, that monster is
italian bureaucracy. Three headed dragon that spits fire, stamps and
papers, tons of paper by every mouth.

I'm at my fourth generation of Saabs and i'm going for the 5th. A friend of
mine just gave me a beautiful 9000 '89 - leather interiors, ACC, cruise
speed but for laws and taxes i cannot keep it. I would like to collect it,
but it's not in the list of collectible cars. It's a mess, i can tell you.

I find myself with a beautiful -and very safe- car that i cannot drive, im
forced to by a new one or drive -because of taxes, isurance etc - a
terrible klunker. I'm going for the TiD - the price of gas here is
ourageous and floats as much as the nasdaq- and because of those terrible
laws and taxes i have to junk a fancy old 9000 and quickly too. There's a
beautiful 900 '91 i've found, it's nice and very good condition and very,
very good buy, i cannot get it because of the high taxes and crazy
insurances.

Most of my co-citizens drive around with burned bulblight, lights rather on
at night, every weekend at least 30-40 kids dies on a car crash because
they drive really bad and unsafe cars... And the government forces you or
to buy brand new klunkers (see Fiats, Lancias, renault and so on companies
that are just starting about safety and control).

After years of Crashless saab driving, i had to drive one of those -a Clio
the small car of Renault- and one night and i've found myself off the
road... I haven't understood how it could happen, yet... Can you imagine a
over excited teen ager how drives that thing?

I drive with lights on, day and night since some years and i've drastically
reduced my possibilities to crash or be in danger. My co-citizens thinks
i'm crazy.

If you -for any chance- have to drive around this gorgeous country, don't
look at the landscape, watch the road and mind the drivers.

Hugs.
Enrico.
