'The recall affected the Engine management computer. Poor GM quality lead
obviously to corrosion/ oxidization and caused engine failure.'

Now, now Ludwig. My wife and I have owned 8 Saabs between us over the
past 17 years, driving them a total of about 1.3 million km and
except for our current cars ('00 9-3 5 dr 5sp and '97 900 5 dr 5sp),
all the older 900 and 9000's we owned had corrosion on electronic
components that caused something major to fail along the way,
occasionally stranding us. Long before Saab was a twinkle in GM's
eye. I can tell you the build quality, especially the use of better
cabling and components and switches is FAR superior in the post GM
Saabs than the pre-GM Saab's. I used to clean the connectors on my
'80 900 T once every few months because they turned green with
oxidation and corrosion even when it was new. Our current cars are
flawless in that regard.
