Does anyone have the dimensions for the various forged 99-9000 turbo pistons?
While we have a little latitude on bore, I am trying to be able to coordinate
specific year's production with bore, wrist (gudgeon) pin size and attachment
method (circlip vs. pressed) and distance from the centerline of the wrist pin
to the top of the piston.

A friend of mine is putting together a turbocharged Triumph TR7 engine, using a
Triumph Dolomite/Sprint four valve head, but he needs some Saab piston
dimensions.  Yes, I know this isn't a Saab, but the Saab 99 first used this same
Triumph TR7 engine.  Triumph used a four valve head in a European normally
aspirated engine, but not on the TR7, so it is a bit of a struggle to find the
right parts to make a turbocharged version work, especially since Triumph hasn't
built a car since 1982.  This kind of parts swapping is not unusual for
Triumphs, however, since many 'vintage' Triumph part suppliers supply dual
tagged Saab/Triumph parts.  One example is the Saab 9000 pressure plate being a
direct swap into the 1968-1978 Triumph TR4A-TR6 models.  I've updated my 1960
TR3 to use this pressure plate, the same one as is in my 1988 9000S.

Thanks for the reply!  Correct on the wrist pin diameter and the pin
centerline to piston top.  TR7 wrist pin is .9375'(23.813mm) and the deck
dimension is about 1.33' (measured.)  The critical thing so far is the wrist
pin.  The second dimension I just want to be close so that my C/R can be
predictable.  There were different pistons on the turbo cars for certain
years.  I know there were about three different pistons used, generating
different compression ratios, depending on the years and other stuff.  So
whatever year the pistons came from I will also need to know.  If there is
anything else you think I might need to know, by all means let me know!  Oh,
one thing.  On TR7's the wrist pin is held with a ring, I will need to know
how the Saab ones are fixed.

If you can help out, it would most certainly be appreciated.  Think of it as a
very early (one-off) Saab 99 race engine.
