Re: Engine Swap

I missed the original question, but last summer I learned that my turbo was
going soon, my timing chain also, and my transmission was leaking (it popped
out of first gear often, too); the car had 200K on it then. I was able to
find an engine, tranny, and turbo from a car with 58K on it from Post Road
in Marlboro (they got it from someplace in Rhode Island, and THEY got it off
a salvage car from Texas); the labor was $850 at my local independent SAAB
mechanic, all the parts were about $2000 and the car has been running great,
with more pep than the original. The used engine & transmission came with
a 90 day warranty. If I could have done without the car for longer, my
husband could have made the swap, but I couldn't so he didn't. I gave the
old stuff to a junkyard.
