You shouldn't have to remove the dash.  Just remove the radio, including the
DIN box that the radio slides into, and you should be able to get to the back
of the air distribution switch.  It also may help to remove the right front
speaker.  Unless you have long skinny arms, you probably can't reach the
hoses through the speaker opening, but you might be able to get a light
and/or a mirror through the speaker opening that will allow you to visualize
the connections on the back of the distribution switch.  I ran into some
difficulty in replacing the radio on my 91 900 and considered taking the dash
off, but my research suggested that that task is something that you do not
want to undertake lightly.  If you can't get at the hoses through the radio
opening, you may be able to do so by removing the center console, a simpler
task than taking the entire dash off.  See
