Rear Track Rod

Might be of interest:

If you ever hear a rattling noise from the rear of your classic 900 while
driving on a bad road at medium speed, the source could be the track rod(s)
. Even more likely if the sound is coming from only one side. (Iīm not
sure if 'track rod' is the correct term) These are short rods connecting
the rear axle to the body of the car, mounted in the wheel housing behind
the rear wheels. Their job is to stabilize the rear wheels, keeping them
on the right track. If the (rubber) bearings of these thingies grow too
old, they will fail, causing a somewhat annoying rattle, which is audible
especially to the rear passengers, e.g. my mom ('Oh my god! The car is
breaking!'). Well, I donīt think itīs too serious, at least faster tire
wear and a decreased handling performance make one think about the approx.
50$ for renewal. You might even get a cheaper price if just the bearings
are replaced, but your mechanic will hate you for it, itīs an awful job to
pry them in and out.
