99 Mixture and Electricals

I am the proud owner of a 1979 99GL with the b type engine. I have loved
this car for many years (despite its rust perforations and other blemishes)
but I just moved to a new area and now the problems have all started.

Where do I start?

I just replaced the brakes (rotors, calipers, valves, the works). Upon doing
that, I started having electrical problems (which haven't gone away for the
last two years). It seems like any time I try to use my turn signal, engage
reverse, honk the horn, use my wipers, or turn on the rear defog, my amp
light comes on and none of these items work (except the turn signals--sort
of) and my fuel and temp gauges fail and drop as if the ignition has been
turned off. Could this be a ground fault? Also, where can I get a better
electrical schematic? All I have is a Haynes guide and I can't make sense of
it (neither can any of the Saab techs I've seen).

The car sat for some time while I was scratching my head about the electrical
problems and then it came time to move so I had to replace the fuel
distributer (it had stuck). The best I could get was a used one and it seems
to be working alright, but I can't seem to adjust the mixture. The car is
idling very high (I don't have a tach, but I'd guess between 1600 and 2000
rpm--higher when the engine is warm), but when the engine is cold, the car
sputters and coughs and loses power if I push the gas in more than maybe half
an inch (this problem goes away after the engine warms up). Could this be a
CO sensor?

Please help. I love my car and I'm not ready to part with it, but it just
seems to get worse every day.

Thanks!

John Zimmerman
