I had to put my penny's worth in as my wife and i had this discussion a
few days ago, she is leaning toward an Audi A6, but with a new roof going
on the old house that is now at least 18 months away.

When we bought our first new SAAB in 1984 we looked at a number of cars.
As I am 6' 6' I have to fit comfortably (have not tried the A6 yet). 
Avoiding the babble I am thinking.  In late '84 you could pick up a base
900 for LESS than a base Toyota Camry. If SAAB's could still be had in
this price range I know we would have another new one in the garage. As
it is 4 years ago we picked up a low mileage 9000t, 1989 vintage. As long
as new SAAB's stay in the price range they are in my area $30K+ new I
doubt I will have a new one in the near future, kids, college, etc., We
will see how they price out when the youngest is out of college, 10 years
from now, see if dear old dad has any $$ left at that time then go car
shopping.
