' My wife drives a 1999 9-3 ... her Bright lights have stopped staying =
on when she depresses the turn signal lever.. They will stay on as long =
as she holds the lever down but wont stay on themselves. Is there a =
dimmer switch built into the headlamp switch or is it separate? Is it =
difficult to change?'

I wondered where you are located. For example, in Canada, my 1995 =
900, which would be very similar in most respects to your wife's 9-3, is =
factory-set for fulltime headlights and yet there is still a headlight =
knob with Off / Parking Lights and Headlights positions. The headlights =
are actually on in all positions, but if the position is selected as OFF =
then the switch does not switch between high and low beams but merely =
flashes while depressed, just as you describe, I think. But you may =
have to play a bit between the three positions to be sure what action =
the switch produces in which position, and also which position allows =
the fog lamps to come on. Just a thought before you try to change any =
equipment.
