Holy ----! $200 for a ten minute job to put a $20 (Saab Dealer price)
thermostat??? That is very expensive. But my guess is for the $200 it
probably includes draining the collant system, replacing the thermostat, and
then refilling with new collant. However, still overpriced even for that
level of service.

If I recall correctly, all you need it one metric wrench to remove the valve
(with hoses going to it) from on top of the thermostat cover. Then you only
need a single opened end wrench (but I forget what metric size it was) to
remove the housing over the thermostat. Swap thermostats (Saab factory
thermostat should come with a new gasket, so don't reuse the old one) and
bolt it all back together, start engine and bleed thru the bleeder valve on
top. You are done. 10 minute job.

That's the simply & quick method. If you wanted, while you are there anyway,
you might consider this a good time to completely drain your coolant system,
inspect all hoses for cracking and bulging, backflush the system with a
garden hose, put in the new thermostat, refill and close up. This can all be
done in under an hour.
