Check Engine Light

I thought I had the problem of a lit 'check engine light' solved. This is on
a 1996 900 2.3 liter non-turbo. I brought the car into Mike Shaw SAAB in
Denver and Tony Leopard, the service manager, let me hook into his OBDII scan
tool. The fault code 'insufficient secondary air flow' came up and we looked
under the air plenum and found two possible hoses disconnected. We fixed or
re-attached the hoses, extinquished the fault code, thanked Tony, and went on
our way. Sadly, three weeks later the 'check engine light' lit up again. I
checked under the hood, particularly noting the secondary air hose circuit,
as indicated by the schematic on the sticker under the hood, and found
nothing amiss. I sure would appreciate any suggestions SAABNET readers might
give me regarding this rectification of this problem. Does the 'check engine
light' go out on its own if the problem is fixed, or does it stay on until
reset by a scan-tool?
Thanks,
Stan
