Re: Shift Up Light

Yesterday, I offered hope that there may be a way of disabling the Up Shift
light with a Tech II. My friend offered hope and then took it away; he
still my friend though. Disabling the Shift Up light on the 9-5 is
accomplished by telling the computer that the car is an automatic. The
problem with this is that it affects a bunch of other things on a 9-5 Aero.
So, that appears to be a dead end.

The best known solid solution seems to be removal of the bulb. This should
include taping over the hole to prevent the entry of dirt.

As soon as I get the shop manuals, I plan to do that. After I do I'll post
my experience so others might apply it; or, perhaps we'll all agree that
the tape should be applied on the driver's side of the dash so that the
light can't be seen.
