Interesting explanation. We have to assume a 2002 Viggen works the
same way as a 2001 9-5 does. And, the way the explanation above is
written, it sounds like there are new programming features for 2002
that didn't exist in prior years.

Here's how a 2001 9-5 ACC works when the car is started. The normal
mode when the car is delivered is to have the ACC come on in
automatic mode when the car is started. The only exception is that
the system will remember the setting when the ignition is shut off
for 10 minutes. So, if you press the 'OFF' button on the ACC
before turning off the car or if you had manual settings selected,
the system would come back with those respective settings if you
restart the car within 10 minutes. Otherwise, the car comes back
in automatic mode.

A programmable feature of the ACC is to set it for manual
selections upon start-up. There is another programmable
feature that sets it back to normal automatic start up. The owner
can do this by pushing a couple of buttons.

I found that I couldn't program my ACC to come up in the OFF mode
after the car has been off for more than 10 minutes.
The best I could do for putting it in a desireable non-auto mode
for the summer was to slect panel vents and no fan speed (which
also engages ECON so the AC compressor won't turn on). That way,
if I want to drive with the windows and sunroof open, the ACC never
really comes on and I get manual air flow through the panel vents.
When I want automatic mode, I just press the AUTO button.

So, is my description for a 2001 9-5 ACC really the same as for a
2002 or can you really program it to come up OFF after the car has
been shut off for more than 10 minutes?

Steve
