Both Saabs I have owned with ECU average speed stuff have read a little
higher on the speedo than the ECU, with the ECU being essentially correct.
The 10% apparent ecu error could be due to the '02 SE having 205/55 tires
versus the earlier cars having 205/50. There might well be a 'Tech II'
adjustment possible ... the 9-5's speed readings can be adjusted among the
various OE tire sizes available.

Brakes don't work when they are wet. In the olden days of drum brakes, which held water for
what seemed like forever, it was common to 'dry the brakes' periodically when driving in the
rain. Disc brakes are much more tolerant of water and dry much faster, so people have forgotten
that bit of driving folk wisdom. Mercedes' newest 'Brake by Wire' computer driven systems
will automatically apply the brakes from tome to tome when driving in the rain (don't ask me
how they know ... maybe they count wiper swipes) to dry them. You can do the same thing if
you think about it. And slow down in the rain and leave some extra room in front of you.
