Check Engine Light

Help!
E-gads, the dastardly 'Check Engine' light came on today on my 1996 900S
2.3L-four cylinder (non-turbo) Saab. No other warning lights turned on, the
temperature gage read normal, and the coolant level and engine oil level were
normal. The car, with about 53 kmiles continued to perform normally. Does
anyone out there in SAABland have any idea or suggestion for thhings for me
to check? If not, I'll be forced to bring the car in to the dealer and hand
them my credit card and title to my house, and possibly the rights to my
last-born grandchild.
The owners book says this light goes on with problems in the fuel injection
or ignition system, and may not be accompanied by immediate lack of
