Re: Cracked Windshield

Exactly the same thing (impact location and crack) happened to me. And it
happened 1 month after I had replaced the prior windshield due to 100k
miles of scratches and pitting. The impact-caused crack looked like it had
started at the windshield edge and I accused the windshield installer of a
faulty job. They then correctly pointed out that on close examination a
small 'ding' was visible about an inch from the windshield bottom.

I hypothesize that 1) the vehicle's hood shape (mine is a '91 900S) and
slope acted to deflect the impacting pebble into the windshield; and/or 2)
the gods are out to get me.

I let the crack grow until it annoyed me to the point that I paid for yet
another, still intact, windshield.
