During a recent clutch replacement on my '87 9000T, I was greatly dismayed
to realize that I'd forgotten to firmly tighten the rigid supply line
attachment to the slave cylinder. The clutch hydraulics weren't airtight,
and, as Stephen notes, it's (almost) impossible to get to with the engine &
transmission together. I was facing the prospect of pulling the subframe
apart and removing the transmission again. Well, I figured out a way to get
in there that I'd like to share: get a 13mm crowsfoot wrench (a handle-less
open-end wrench with a 3/8' socket fitting on it) and a 8-inch *locking*
extension (10' was too close to the distributor; locking, because we don't
want to lose the crowsfoot inside the bellhousing), and you can snake your
way down into the bellhousing and onto the supply line wrench flats to
tighten 'er up. The only place I could find the tools locally was Sears,
but I'm sure there are other vendors.
